For this special weekend honoring Mexica New Year, Plaza de la Raza and Indigital Productions present LA Ofrenda, an original Aztec dance mixed-media performance, written and directed by Jeniffer Sanchez. LA Ofrenda is a story of sacrifice and creation; a multimedia Aztec dance performance – converging traditional dances, cosmology, light, video and neo-Mesoamerican regalia – to introduce the Aztec creation story of the 5th Sun.
The cast includes an intergenerational group of Sanchez’s beading, dance and music students and local creative community members, who she teaches as part of Plaza de la Raza’s arts education program. This year’s LA Ofrenda cast, crew and contributors include: Anjanette Gonzalez, Dahlia Maria Castaneda, Deyanira García Miranda, Doreen Sanchez, Emily Marie Chavez Marin, Evelinn Garcia, Evelyn Ruelas Bond, Janelle Ruelas, Jorge Luis Jr. Chavez Marin, Juliett Rose Baires, Metztonali Tlazohtzin Torres, Saoirse Valencia-Walsh, Sage Scanlon-Pérez, Tonantzin Reyes, Vivienne, Yaneth Leticia Rodriguez, Yolitztli Torres, Adriana Rivera Garcia, Benjamin Del Rosario, Cuauhtli Amador, Gino Franco, Howard Baires, Itzcoatl Franco, Jorge Chavez, Manny Torres, Nancy Soni, Necali Amador, Suairis Hernandez, Dulce Marin, Esteban Hernandez, Fatima Rosalles, Jennifer Cuevas, Marco Amador, Magaly Barajas, Nanci Ochoa, Patricia Valencia, Erick Micheal Sanchez, Jess Gudiel, Pablo Aguilar, Che Serna, Martha Carillo, Reyes Rodriguez, Andre Lopez, Grace Page and Evette Smith.
